As Sample A has only come through in parts, I expect it is an html or other Web format (where possibly the text in tags is not displayed here)
Sample B is an online help file, while sample C is a resources file (strings for dialog box, user interface)

Could you please clarify what you mean by the asterisked text above? Do you mean you want to use Machine Translation for these texts? Or do you what kind of programming do these texts represent?

Most probably these samples are translation tests for a translation agency. I have done similar tests myself. The point is that the agency wants to know if you are familiar with various file types. Basically, they want to know if you can select which part of the sample is code (and should be left as such) and which part is translatable.

On the menu itself, these letters are displayed with an underscore. In order for you to successfully translate these samples, you should be familiar with, for example, the menu structure of your local Windows version.

I saw your discussion about those files, which I`m translating at the moment for one company. There is also an assignement to highlight what needs translating. I know for the sample A, but samples B and C are a bit confusing.
