Hi folks,
I've been a very happy WF user for several years now, working with the free version without any trouble.
Yesterday I installed a new computer and downloaded the latest version, which I understood was a fully working version but limited only in TMs.
I immediately PAID for this version and am waiting to receive the license number.
However, the setup tab does NOT look like what is shown in the manual.

I immediately PAID for this version and am waiting to receive the license number.
However, the setup tab does NOT look like what is shown in the manual.
In short, all I have is Gen, but it does not allow me to set my fuzzy threshold, Segments, QC, Files, View and PB. I do NOT have the color tab, which is extremely useful. Therefore, everything is the same color and I am unable to change it.
Does receiving the license enable this, or did I simply download a bum copy?
I'm working with Windows XP Professional and have installed Word 2000.

There is a public and a beta version of WF. Please, get yourself the *public* one. The manual is a bit behind, but not in important issues. And the best place to ask questions about WF is Wordfast group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wordfast/

I downloaded the wrong version. Now I've downloaded the RIGHT version as if I were upgrading, calling the old dot file "wordfastold", as suggested, but when I open it, it isn't the new version. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall?

Just in case you renamed the wrong bit of the filename...remove or rename to "old" (or to whatever you like!) the ".dot" bit of the filename, so that Word doesn't recognise it as a template.
Now the new file wordfast.dot should be recognised.
There have been lots of improvements in WF since the free version and some cosmetic and organisational changes in the menus, so check the manual (it has *nearly* everything) and explore the different tabs. Some things have been changed places but they are still there.
When you have time, it'd be good to play around a bit with the new beta versions so you can familiarise with the new interface (which will be made public soon, hopefully with an updated version of the manual).
And as Aleksandr mentioned, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wordfast/
is the best place to *cry* for help

Hallo Catherine,
have you tried restarting your computer and Word?
The "old" (beta-).dot-file probably still is active/loaded.
If you're starting from scratch on this new computer you might as well delete the beta-.dot-file and just start again with the installation.

The problem has now been solved, thanks to everyone's input plus phone help from a friend.
Yesterday I ended up trying to install too many things - changing computers is a tad traumatic for me! - and by the time I got to Wordfast I simply downloaded the wrong one.
FWIW, I also wrote to the Wordfast people when I posted this forum, and they answered within an hour!!
Just wanted you all to know how fast their customer service department is.
