One client wants me to translate a patent, and the translation should look like a patent, meaning every fifth line should be numbered at the left margin (5, 10, 15, 20...).
Is it possible in Word and how?

Do one of the following:
To add line numbers to the entire document, click Select All on the Edit menu.
To add line numbers to part of a document, select the text you want to number.
To add line numbers to existing sections, click in a section or select multiple sections.

Switch to print layout view.
Do one of the following:
To add line numbers to the entire document, click Select All on the Edit menu.
To add line numbers to part of a document, select the text you want to number.
To add line numbers to existing sections, click in a section or select multiple sections.
On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Layout tab.
If you're adding line numbers to part of a document, click Selected text in the Apply to box.
Click Line Numbers.
Select the Add line numbering check box, and then select the options you want.
PS: I haven't tried this with multiple columns, but with a bit of luck it should work...
