Error - file is too big!!! Please Help!!!

I received a big file, XML format, with 1392796 characters.
I imported the file in Transit XV Software, but when I open it, an error appears:

File "....file.DEU" is too big

What can I do?
is there a way to split the file upon import or to make more language pairs?

I am using Transit XV Professional 3.1 SP 23 Build 655.2

I managed, with the help of a friend, to create a simple GUI to split large XML files and to remove comments.

I hope someone will find it useful.
