Hi,
I will be trying to organize a Powow in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 25, 2003. I hope lots of folks can make it.

I have been astounded lately at the number of people from Utah that are in the translation biz, in the last week I have collaborated with at least 5 people I never met before, and a couple more I work with regularly. I personally don\'t live there year round, but I teach a Dutch class and a linguistics class there every summer. I think it would be great for us to get together.
I am thinking that Rodesio Grill will be the perfect spot; great food and lots of it, and no one will mind if we hang out there for hours on end. The Mayan might be another choice. I see to remember an interesting Tibetan buffet in SLC as well.

During the preparations for a Mid-South Sweden powwow (which for various reasons was never held)we all agreed that if you are to travel 300 miles to a powwow you\'d like get value for money, i.e. have at least a full day\'s program and time and opportunity to sit down and talk with more than one or two colleagues.
Downtown Toronto is different: You can say \"Let\'s meet on Thursday 15th in the bar at 18.00 hours\" and you\'ll have 23 people turning up... See more is my powwow experience.

The last powwow here last fall took some organization and only 15 people showed up I think (minus me). It\'s not as quickly done and all-too-convivial as you might think, Mats. I myself only know four fellow translators in TO...ok, five...

And I\'ve met only one of them. I think I should organize a powwow myself this summer and invite Henry.
It\'s in Buenos Aires that people get up and go as you\'ve described. Or so it seems judging by their numbers.
