Can I remind you that Godiva is a Belgian company?
Leonidas, Neuhaus, Galler or Côte d'Or are other famous Belgian chocolate-makers, but there are plenty of them.
I was wondering why nobody mentioned Belgian chocolate. I never leave Brussels without a box from Pierre Marcolini ...

And were sold to a US company in 1967.
My point of mentioning Godiva: There is more to US food and US brands than big-box stuff and McDonalds. | | | Rachel Fell યૂનાઇટેડ કિંગ્ડમ Local time: 04:11 ફ્રેન્ચ થી અંગ્રેજી + ...

To be honest, the few Swiss brands that I tried were a bit too sweet for my taste. The most outstanding high-end chocolates neither need nor use tons of sugar, which is why they don't target the kiddie market.
You are right about the sweetness of Swiss branded products, even though that situation has improved somewhat in recent years, as some manufacturers now supply high-percentage chocolate as well.
However, if you're looking for truly outstanding chocolate that will blow your taste buds away, try Felchlin. Based pretty much in the heart of Switzerland, they supply great chocolatiers all over Europe. You won't find their products in any stores, but they have a factory outlet.

We have Frey chocolate available here, in Ukraine. I tried it and really felt the difference in comparison to local brands. 85% is my favourite so far.
Is Frey chocolate considered high-end?
And does it contain the sweat of slave children? | | | Nicole Schnell યૂનાઇટેડ સ્ટેટસ્ Local time: 20:11 અંગ્રેજી થી જર્મન + ... ઇન મેમોરીયમ Oooooh, this sounds good!!! | Apr 21, 2011 |
