Removed, but... Sep 30, 2008

Yes, Giovanni. It seems that everything was removed. However, if you need proof for safekeeping, do a Google search like so:

resume canada site:translationindia.com

Replace the word "canada" by the name of your country, obviously. The results will all be individual (stolen) ProZ profiles. If you click on them, you will get an error message. However, if you instead click on the blue Cache link at the bottom of each result - surprise! You are taken to a Google archive which neatly tucked all those profiles away sometime in August. All the graphics are gone, but it doesn't matter. You now have proof.

Now, you can print your profile!

Action now ! 2 Sep 30, 2008

After my strongly worded letter they removed my profile today. It looks, however, that while they do it having received objections, they re-insert the hijacked profiles in a couple of days. I am trying to contact a relevant officer at the High Commission of India in London with a view to lodging a protest with an Indian equivalent to the Trading Standards Office.

Action against translation India Sep 30, 2008

We can still take action against them as they have unlawfully used our personal information.

I have saved the proof that they used my proz profile and can provide it to the agencies concerned.

This will act as a deterrent to other such organisations.

Thank you, Viktoria Sep 30, 2008

Instead of using the country, you can use other terms (like a last name). To pull up my deleted profile from the cache I used

resume lossner site:translationindia.com

Worked like a charm. I will not forget this, and I will look for opportunities to reward the perpetrator for a very long time to come, even if he did make my profile photo look better by adding a bit of hair

What else can we do? Sep 30, 2008

They got mine, too. If there's anything I can do (will Delhi police take complaints from someone living in the U.S.?), please let me know. That includes contributing to any collective effort.

They had mine too... Sep 30, 2008

Thanks to a vigilant Proz member for letting me know (I hadn't seen this until today)! Mine has been taken down now (or moved), but I found it in the Google cache by googling my name and "translationindia".

Waiting to see what everyone is going to do...

OMG Sep 30, 2008

The haven't hijacked my profile, I wonder.
Why? Is it bad? I feel kinda upset — think of it this way — if someone impersonates you, then you worth impersonating=)
Kust kidding
