This is a term used to describe what I am assuming is some kind of whip/crop for horses used especially in Spain but I'm wondering if anyone can explain exactly what it is?
Ho visto altri cavalli spagnoli in addestramento sanguinare dalla testa più precisamente da dove agiva quell'attrezzo infernale che si chiama cagna.

In Italian it's also known as serreta or serretta spagnola, in English it's a (Spanish) serreta, see, for instance:

Serreta is a metal noseband with "teeth", which is, as the article states, to be covered with leather. Young horses are being first worked in hand, then longed and/or long reined, then ridden, later the bit comes into play, together with the serreta, then only the bit.

Certo.. la serretta spagnola (comunemente detta cagna) é peggio.. ma quella é violenza pura..

Mentre bisogna allertare la gente dlla cosiddetta "cagna" che non é altro che la serretta con una parte metallica seghettata sopra il muso.
I cavalli addestrati con questo strumento di tortura si riconoscono in quanto hanno una cicatrice sul muso.
