Discussion

Deane Goltermann Jun 4, 2015:
About that pun... Would the count? 'take a stiff one to sharpen your senses, before sharpening the knives'

I have fuond I'm too often too literal for puns, but noticed some references to iron deficiencies in the swe context. Swedes are good at drinking jokes...
Agneta Pallinder Jun 3, 2015:
järn - rivjärnet Perhaps it would be possible to find a way for Helena to duplicate the pun in the original text - can anyone think of anything that means an alcoholic drink and rhymes with or is cognate with grater or some similar kitchen implement you can cut yourself on.

Sometimes you (can) take stiff drink...

ta ett järn is slang for having a drink (stiff one), etc. There are zillions of expressions that fit.

Sometimes you take a shot

And my proposal for the whole sentence is:

Acknowledging Deane for the "shot" expression.
