agree Johansson : Clare is right here as well, but f you translate "engraved" you get "inrista" or "gravera" so it would seem that the technical description is most appropriate.

deeply engraved

I don't disagree with Sven, but I think that "deeply engraved" is a more common description in terms of text on gravestones.

I know... I guess it depends on the purpose of the information about the gravestone.
