personally I feel translating it to slaughtering facility is allowing yourself perhaps a bit too much freedom, even though it does represent the meaning of the original sentence.
If you use poultry instead of birds you'll find many entries on google, so my suggestion would read:
facilities for the slaughter and processing of poultry
