Portuguese term

certificados de aptidao

Portuguese to English Other Aerospace / Aviation / Space Aviation Regulations
I need to know what this means in this particular context.

Todo o pessoal técnico-aeronáutico deve munir-se de licença e certificados de aptidao outorgados pela Autoridade Aeronáutica que os habilitem para o exercicio da actividade de navegaçao aérea e outras com ela relacionadoas.

Discussion

Deborah do Carmo Mar 24, 2006:
If you've anything further to say, as I've said this isn't the forum and you can e-mail me directly if it would make you feel better.
Deborah do Carmo Mar 24, 2006:
Well if trying to give you tips to look up the verb instead of the noun, requests for context or pointing out that many terms you ask can be easily researched as "snide", you are over-sensitive as well as out of your league - these are facts.
peterinmadrid (asker) Mar 24, 2006:
You can all see what I'm having to deal with here. This woman insists in making snide comments every time I ask a question. She obviously won't be getting any point for it and hopefully she'll end up getting herself banned.
Deborah do Carmo Mar 24, 2006:
Erratum: (valid) criticism. That's the end of it from my point, I'm not interested in debating with a novice.
Deborah do Carmo Mar 24, 2006:
(4) I am not interested in receiving points from someone who obviously doesn't and it's not correct to try and withhold points and mess up the glossary because you don't like the ciriticism. Call the moderator in if you wish to winge. This isn't the place
Deborah do Carmo Mar 24, 2006:
(3) I shall therefore continue to answer questions as and when I see fit. The answers posted are not for your benefit, but for others, more experienced who know the difference berween right and wrong
Deborah do Carmo Mar 24, 2006:
Peter: (1) the surname is do Carmo and not del Carmo - rather a common surname in Portugal, even if by marriage. (2) this site is not your private property, despite what amounts to your use thereof to have colleagues do your work.
peterinmadrid (asker) Mar 24, 2006:
Deborah del Carmo: the fact that a similar phrase exists somewhere on the internet does not mean that it is correct in this context. Your comments are unwelcome and offensive, and I would rather that you just didn´t answer my questions. In any case, I will not give points to anyone making offensive remarks.

vocational aptitude certificate

Is European Portuguese ? If so, the CAP - certificado de aptidão -is awarded by the IEFP (Inst. do Emprego e Formaçao Profissional). The IEFP website is in both Port and English (URL below) and refers to the CAP. They use this translation of the term, as does CEDEFOP (the EU reference centre for vocational educaiton and training) in its English translations of country reports submitted by Portugal.
