Un socio-technical system (per come qui inteso) presenta due aspetti rilevanti: il primo è che si può considerare idealmente tendente a un ambiente chiuso, isolato dall’influenza degli eventi esterni.. il secondo è che il ritmo degli eventi che si svolgono al suo interno, compreso il comportamento di chi agisce nel suo spazio, è in gran parte scandito dalle interazioni tra l’uomo e l’apparato tecnico.

: I thing that Phil's alternative is much better in the context of STS, where man machine interaction is much more about things like reaction times in hitting a brake pedal.
