I have seen 'pois' translated as 'polka dots' before, but don't see how this can fit here! Thanks in advance for your help!

sorry, flip flops, and I know those are border patterns rather than all over wallpaper - but I imagined it as pairs of footwear dotted across the walls in spacing similar to spots!

Maybe these are not polka-dots, but random footprints...made with flip-flops, as though they were impressions in the sand.
