Term found in the heading of an Italian baptism certificate (i.e. "Archidiocesi e Archimandritato di.....)
I could only find the English translation of "Archimandrita", = "Archimandrite/Atchimandrites".
Would "Archimandritate" be acceptable, or is there a better way?
Thank you in anticipation,
luke

archimandritate
I know it's a mouthful, but it has a very specific meaning within the orthodox church and you shouldn't try to find equivalents.
Example sentence:
A congregation of Basilian monks existing in Sicily ... has been under the care of an archimandrite apparently from that time. Its head abbey is ... in Messina, and it forms an exempt archimandritate immediately dependent on the pope.
