Italian term

canonichessa

Italian to English Social Sciences Religion
From a website describing the history of a building that previously housed religious orders and is now a hotel.

It sounds almost like novice or novitiate, but there must be a more exact term for canonichessa. Thanks for any suggestions!

agree Kristina Wolsieffer : www.holierthanthou.info/glossary/c.htma canon regular is a regular Roman Catholic priest living under the rule of his institute. A canoness is a woman holding a canonry but, unlike a nun, she doesn't take an everlasting vow.
