Italian term
fibrosi, a ventaglio
Italian to English
Other
Mining & Minerals / Gems
On the subject of rock crystal (hyaline):
Quarzi di diverse provenienze possono contenere cristalli aghiformi o verdastri, di epidoto, di tormaline; fibrosi, a ventaglio fino addirittura a zolfo giallo o gocce di olio o petrolio ambrato.
- a ventaglio = fan-shaped (or words to that effect) but I'm stumped as to the meaning of 'fibrosi' in this context.
TIA for any suggestions/clarifications

Due to the increased Mg/Ca ratios in the drip water these speleothems are mainly composed of fibrous and often fan-shaped aragonite with intercalations of RFC layers. Following XRD analyses, the calcite contains 3.5–5 mol% MgCO3.
