Asker is American (it would seem) so I opted for AE spelling - sulfonic/sulphonic - same combat, just a matter of linguistic preference.

agree Mihaela Petrican : you have right; much more medical and chemical references on Web as "gingesulfonic" acid than as "gingesulphonic"
