"Ricovero dal XXX al XXX per Re-IMA non Q (NSTEMI) con iniziale scompenso cardiaco in CP [cardiopatia] ad *evoluzione ID*.
This is almost the end of a long trail of acronyms and abbreviations for this project! The only meaning of ID I know is "insulino dipendente" (from one of our ProZ colleagues) but I don't think this fits in this sentence, or in the patient's history as there is no diabetes.
What is this ID in this context? (The Italian words, and then the English if it's not clear, please.)

What Is Ischemic cardiomyopathy?
Ischemic cardiomyopathy (CM) is the most common type of dilated cardiomyopathy. In Ischemic CM, the heart's ability to pump blood is decreased because the heart's main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, is enlarged, dilated and weak. This is caused by ischemia - a lack of blood supply to the heart muscle caused by coronary artery disease and heart attacks.

si tratta di acronimi usati in medicina che sia italiani che anglossassoni non si traducono. I medici sanno benissimo di che cosa si tratta. Pensi che perfino in greco li lasciamo così...

| Comunque, Constantinos, bisogna sapere cosa significa l'acronimo per essere sicuro che lo si possa lasciare senza tradurre. Per esempio PA in italiano e' BP in inglese, EO (esame obiettivo) = PE in inglese (physical exam), RS (ritmo sinusale) = SR (sinus rhythm) in inglese e cosi' via. I medici non sapranno affatto di che cosa si tratta se non si traduce correttamente. |
