Italian term

a rete corrente

Italian to English Bus/Financial Economics Report
Riporto tutta la frase (si parla di una catena di ristoranti):

Sono quattro anni che il mercato perde il 2% e alla fine ha perso l’8% del suo valore. Non sarà facile nel 2015 superare la crisi: già il mese di gennaio ha toccato gli stessi livelli del passato. Una cosa del genere non si vedeva dal dopoguerra”.
…Nel 2014 siamo cresciuti del 2% a rete corrente; e poco meglio del mercato a rete omogenea.

Grazie per qualsiasi suggerimento.

We achieved total growth, including new outlets, of 2 percent. Excluding new outlets, we slightly outpaced the market.

These two types of growth are known as organic and inorganic, and you could also use these terms in your translation. Organic growth is what you achieve by increasing your productivity; inorganic growth comes from opening new outlets or acquiring other businesses.

I find it odd that they don't give a figure for sales excluding new outlets, unless that appears elsewhere in the text.

neutral Andrew Bramhall : Disingenuously, you avoid answering the actual question asked, preferring instead to only translate the final sentence of the posted context;// Agree with you, but why didn't you post that as an answer?

You call it disingenuous, I call it helpful - I've translated more than Gabriella asked for, so I don't know what you're complaining about. "A rete corrente" is "including new outlets".
agree Shilpa Baliga : Great solution IMO.

at the current rate

"Over four years the market has declined/shrunk by 2% and lost 1.8% of its value; it won't be easy to overcome the crisis in 2015: even the figure for January has hit the same levels as before. Such a thing hasn't been seen since the immediate post-war years".
As this is about economic growth (and decline) I'd leave off the traditional meaning of ' network' for ' rete', and go with 'rate' as the meaning is obvious.
Peer comment(s):

disagree philgoddard : No, "rete" doesn't mean "rate".//Yes.

Did you read my explanation?// So, " a rete corrente" you 'd translate as what, given this was the question asked?

new openings factored in

Vuol dire che si tiene conto dei nuovi punti vendita aperti, quindi in un certo senso è un risultato un po' bugiardo perché sono cresciuti sì, però si è ampliata anche la rete.
