Hi, I'm getting really bogged down with this term. The dictionary says to look at knowingly, but it sounds like "Piccanti", so to look at daringly/brazenly/ suggestively? Or maybe just say he gives a flirtatious look. thanks in advance for your suggestions.

This is about a short film called "La cummare". the term is at the end.

In una nobile famiglia  di campagna i  genitori hanno organizzato una  festa in villa per il loro unico figlio oramai pronto, superati I 40 anni, a lasciare la casa paterna; Gli stessi “assai premurosi” hanno individuato una figura femminile che ritengono adatta al rampollo e verso questa cercano di indirizzarlo; ma vi è anche un'amica di famiglia interessata al "Cicci" che non molla la presa, ancorchè abbia intuito i disegni del di lui genitori; . nell'eterogeneo gruppo di partecipanti alla serata (giovani ballerini, arzilli vecchietti , belle donne d'ogni età) si nota pure una piacente cameriera cui il padre, molto più sveglio del figlio, invia sguardi ammiccanti.

among the motley participants of the evening (young dancers, sprightly little old men, beautiful women of all ages) there is an attractive waitress, who the father, much smarter than the son, looks at brazenly.
