The letters "d.to" appear after the title "L'UffICIALE di ST CIVILE d.to". I am assuming that "ST"stands for "Stato" thoiugh I have never seen this form before. But what is represented by "d.to"? "Delegato"? And if so, what is the exact meaning? Your help is much appreciated. Isobel

delegato
IMO you are right: "ufficiale di stato civile delegato" is the officier, authorised by the mayor, that can for example register marriages in the mayor's stead.

Comment: "Thank you for your detailed answer, Claudia, and for the confirmation, Phil. Also interesting Jean-Marie's comparison of d.to to f.to (firmato), but I will adopt delegato. Thanks again, everyone. "
