I was hoping someone could help me with the word "baffi" in an automotive context. It appears twice in the text I am translating about old racing cars. The two instances are as follows:

I believe the 'whiskers' are the mesh bits on the lower side of the front of the car.

air dam (or front spoiler)= A device made of metal or plastic fitted beneath the front bumper of an automobile and intended to enhance aerodynamics and stability by blocking the flow of turbulent air under the chassis.
I wonder if it's a colloquial term referring to their resemblance to a moustache or an animal's whiskers. Also, headlights and rear lights can be trapezoidal.
