Flemish term

perversieve ontwikkelingstoornis

Flemish to English Other Medical (general)
Als mensen met autisme b.v.
leiden aan een perversieve ontwikkelingstoornis en dat betekend levenslang, [...]

I've taken 'perversieve' to mean 'pervers' in Dutch, but perverse/unnatural developmental disorder doesn't sound terribly nice (this is a statement made by the mother of someone with autism).

Discussion

Kate Hudson (X) Sep 26, 2006:
You can't change Kudoz but you can change the glossary entry - if you do so I will delete my glossary comment.
LAB2004 (asker) Sep 26, 2006:
To all- thanks for your input - even after grading. Adam - you're right, I was too hasty (actually in even asking this question as in hindsight I could have come up with the answer myself). And yes, I now agree that 'pervasive' is the answer - now how to change kudoz??
Adam Smith Sep 26, 2006:
I'm with Kate & Gerda: this should be "pervasive". I think there was a typo in the Dutch original ("perversieve", rather than "pervasieve"). Also, just a gentle reminder that Kudoz rules state that 24 hrs should be allowed for grading responses. :-)
Gerda Rijsselaere (X) Sep 26, 2006:
akkoord met Kate, in het Nederlands is het trouwens ook pervasieve ontwikkelingsstoornis, en niet perversieve.
Kate Hudson (X) Sep 26, 2006:
There are many more hits for pervasive personality disorder otherwise known as PDD as in www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/autism.cfm
www.kidshealth.org/parent/positive/ learning/pervasive_develop_disorders.html

Right, I was a bit too hasty myself :)
I'd be happy to give my 4 points away...
Jeez, look smth up, get the right answer and I still put in the wrong answer. Usually only happens on Monday morning or Friday evening...Sorry all...
Something went wrong...
4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Yes it did help! That's obviously the correct answer. Many thanks."
