If the balloon bursts when you have started to expand the covered stent, take extreme care when removing it.
Try to remove it together with the introducer as one single assembly.
If it is not possible to remove the stent, leave the guidewire in position so that you can very carefully insert another semi-compliant balloon with the same diameter, to *position the covered stent over the artery*, while withdrawing the balloon and introducer as one single assembly.
Once the stent is secure, deflate and remove the balloon and, if necessary, postdilate it again with another balloon.
