Вы правы. В описании технологии семена будут уместнее. Хотя семечки они и есть семечки :)

: А зачем оно? У подсолнуха - семечки, у яблони - яблоки, у кофе - бобы. Можно, конечно, назвать плодами, а еще более общо - предметами :)

so i think in this case the mosture estimate is based on the bean.

a bean - is in a completely different family, Fabaceae (alternately Leguminosae) from the sunflower seed, which is closer to a dandilion (which also produces achene) than the bean. and i have never heard bean used in a general sense. but, i am no botanist :-)
and just like sunflower seed cake, beans are also widely used in animal feed (i assume that is what the general context is)
