English term

agent

English to Chinese Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Publiscation
Source: "Dear XXX, ...I got your e-mail details from your friend **** who says you may be looking for an agent to represent you."

XXX is a budding Chinese writer.

The person who writes this letter is the "publishing agent"

Is it okay to render it as "(出版)代理人" in mainland Chinese?

many thanks!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you everyone for your great inputs - it's all helpful, but for this time Ritchest gave me the clue just in time... Also, I think to avoid confusion in Chinese (代理 can be both verb and noun), I'm using the term with some flexibility (thank you Mark Xiang)... and thanks to icg! cheers"

经纪人/出版经纪/出版代理经纪人...

Other options...
Note from asker:
"经纪人" perhaps is used more relevant in the contexts of show business... it's certainly very Hongkong-ish to me! But I'd like be safe for mainland use... thanks again!
correction: "经纪人" perhaps is more relevant
