Is this word being missused? Securitisation says my dictionary, which does seem to add up here.

Discussion

S Ben Price (asker) Jan 28, 2008:
does not seem to add up I left out the not - Increase in credit card securitisation defaults - does this make any sense? I get zero hits for "credit card securitisation defaults" with z or s, almost no hits for "securitisation default(s)" - (the hits are seperated by colons, commas, etc.) Credit card securitisation is the only combination that gets a decent amount of hits at 23,000. So something does not add up here.

securitisation

Securitisation (See Chapters 44 and 47 of the Vernimmen)

Securitisation, one of the off-balance sheet financing techniques, consists in first choosing some assets (receivables, inventories, buildings, consumer loans, mortgages, etc) based on the quality of the collateral they offer or their level of risk. To reduce risk, the assets are then grouped into an SPV so as to pool risks and take advantage of the law of large numbers. The SPV buys the assets and finances itself by issuing securities to outside investors.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, the phrase still doesn't add up, but the word is securitization."

securitization

I work at a bank and we do use securitization, that is, if it's titularización in Spanish. Hope it helps.
Note from asker:
Does securitisation default make any sense? Look at my comment I added to the question. And thank for the help, I'm really breaking my brain trying to get this one.
