Fierro

Spanish to English Art/Literary Music DJing equipment
I've come across this term in a blog about a DJ's first time using a new turntable:

"Eran los mejores fierros que había tocado en mi vida".

I'm not sure which specific piece of audio equipment the term "fierro" is referring to here and haven't been able to find anything concrete online. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to offer any insights?

(Source language is Latin American Spanish.)

Of course, it's the final sentence of the blog, but the sentences before are:
El bar Hamilton era uno de los mejores del mundo. Allí accedí por primera vez a bandejas profesionales y un mezclador Pioneer. Eran los mejores fierros que había tocado jamás.

Gear

"Fierro" is used as a generic term for "gear" in many industries (music, film, etc) in Argentina and Uruguay.

agree Evelyn Schenck : I'm also from Uruguay and I agree 100% with Matías. We use it as you would use "gear" in English. It's any equipment that allows you to perform the task, in this case the turntables.

deck

It seems like deck and plate are used interchangeably, but I would go with deck. Also decks/plates in some cases are electronic only (no physical record being spun), and I think deck would work better to cover this meaning.
