español term

adenocarcinoma de pulmón libre de enfermedad

español al inglés Medicina Medicina (general) Lung Cancer
This phrase appears in an abdominal CT scan report.

The sentence says: "Información clínica: Adenocarcinoma de pulmón libre de enfermedad". What confuses me is how the lung can be 'libre de enfermedad' and yet have cancer? Unless ... as I think about it, it means that the patient had lung cancer in the past, and had been free of disease prior to this examination? In remission?

It appears that this is a relapse of a tumor ( "Es compatible con recidiva tumoral local.") in a patient who has had previous surgery -- the surgical staples are left in the lung and are seen in the scan.

Your suggestions and ideas are appreciated!

history of adenocarcinoma of the lung

Por el contexto, entiendo que es una antecedente, como bien entiende Joseph, escrito en un pésimo español.

Probably, until then, the patient had had no disease or any problems with his/her lung.
