I have 13+ years full-time experience as a specialist legal translator.
I worked as an in-house translator/editor in one of the top Paris law firms for several years, and have been working freelance for the past 10 years - translating approximately 500,000 words each year.
I ONLY translate legal and related documents, from French to English - a true specialist!
I have extensive experience translating in the following specific areas:
Litigation & arbitration
Contracts
Corporate law (company incorporation, mergers & acquisitions, etc.)
Intellectual property law (infringement of patents and trademarks, etc.)
Employment matters
Banking law (compliance rules and procedures: KYC, anti-money laundering, etc.)
Financial (loan agreements)
Real property law (leases, property development contracts, etc.)
My clients, directly or via first-rate agencies specialising in legal and financial translations, are mainly French and international law firms, French and Luxembourg banks and asset management companies, and the legal departments of international groups. I have been working with many of them on an extremely regular basis for several years.
As well as the internet, which has become an invaluable tool for translators, I rely on my extensive legal library which includes bilingual and many monolingual legal dictionaries, reference books on specific aspects of law, national and European legislation, treaties, etc., and my personal database containing the results of years of research and discussions with lawyers and other specialists.
