02 Camel
“Let us make a comparison. A camel can smell water and food many kilometres away and runs to them when it feels hungry. When a car runs out of fuel, the mechanism is as dead as a rock. The camel can feel sandstorms approach and its body is adjusted to surviving them. It can close its eyes and nose airtight. Its fur and organs contain an air conditioning system. It can survive for weeks without eating or drinking. However, it can drink a 100 litres and its humps serve to store food. And above all, don’t forget, in its belly there is a little factory that can raise little camels. On top of this, it has still another facility to feed that little camel until it can find its own food. What then is the little mechanism of a car as compared to that of a camel? That it is a mechanism too. I agree.
However, a camel is fitted together with infinitely more intelligence.”

“आइए तुलना करें । एक ऊँट कई मीलों दूर से पानी व भोजन की गंध को भांप लेता है और भूख लगने पर उनकी ओर दौड़ पड़ता है । जब एक कार का ईंधन समाप्तक को जाता है तो यह यंत्र रचना मानो चट्टान सी बेजान पड़ी रहती है। ऊँट को आने वाले रेतीले तूफा़न का अहसास हो जाता है तथा उसका शरीर स्वतयं को बचा पाने के लिए सक्षम होता है। वह अपनी आँखों व नाक को वायुरुद्ध (पूरी तरह से) मूँद सकता है ।उसके अंग तथा फर एक वातानुकूल प्रणाली धारण किये रहते हैं। बिना कुछ खाए-पिए, वह कई सप्ताेह जीवित रह सकता है ।तथापि, वह 100 लीटर तक पानी पी सकता है और उसका कूबड़ भोजन के भण्डासरण का कार्य करता है । सबसे मुख्यत बात, यह न भूलें कि, उसके पेट में एक छोटी सी निर्माणी होती है जो उसके नन्हेंक शावकों का पालन-पोषण कर सकती हैं। इसके सर्वोपरि, उनके पास नन्हेंी शावकों को पालने की सुविधा होती है जहाँ वह उसका जब तक पोषण कर सकता (‘सकती’: का प्रयोग बेहतर है क्यां कि ऊँटनी के पास ही नन्हें शावकों को पालने की सुविधा होती है ) है तब तक कि वह स्वयं अपना भोजन खोजने न लगे। अब एक कार का यंत्र एक ऊँट की तुलना में क्याध है? मेरा यह मानना है कि वह भी मात्र एक यंत्र रचना ही है।
तथापि, ऊँट एक असीमित बुद्धिमत्ताा से युक्तं होता है।“
