Spanish term
$12,4 millones (pesos chilenos)
I am a bit confused as to how to write out this amount in Chilean pesos. Would it be $12,400,000.00 millions? I am trying to convert it to USD and I am aware that Chile uses commas instead of decimals for their numbers, but I am still a bit unsure if I can directly enter $12,4 millones (Chilean pesos) into a currency converter like "124", for instance.
Any help is appreciated.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

If the remaining figures in the document are in USD, you can convert it at oanda.com and it will be USD$ 18,106.00 Take note that the conversion on OANDA uses the same decimal and commas as the CLP, even for USD.
I am a US citizen living in Argentina and visit Chile frequently, so am very familiar with how numbers are written and expressed in Chile, Argentina and the US.

Also, the exact amount if you exchange the money depends on weather you are buying or selling CLP. For this discussion, I used the value for selling CLP to USD.
I would stick with using CLP$ for the translation.
The price of the new car is CLP$12.4 million.
The price of the new car is USD$ 18,106.00
$12.4 million (Chilean pesos)
To Convert this amount into US dollars, you have to divide the number by the amount of Chilean pesos in one US dollar.

$18,112 is an approximation because I dropped the decimals

: You've misunderstood the question. $ is the symbol for pesos.

There is no confusion in the text above. I clearly distinguished between the US $ and the Chilean $.
