Applying for appointments and visiting galleries requires more effort on my part.

Offer it on eBay and wait for the offers or any reactions by potential buyers. You may then either contact them for the informations you want, sell your sketch or abort the auction. I don't believe that your drawing is of any high financial value.

Before perhaps resorting to other, more time-intensive measures, I'd just like to find out if someone here can decipher the artist's name.

So if anyone has any insight...?

These days all local galleries have websites with email contact forms…pick many such emails and send a group email with your query. They will have much more clues/cues/knowledge to guess or assume who this may be.
