I don't think anyone's all that interested to know what kind of music other random self-selecting people happen to be listening to. Anyway rather than listening passively to other people's music I prefer to make my own - having in mind this quote from the great jazz musician Wayne Shorter:

I'm sure some people like it. And you've drawn attention to it by submitting a forum post. And that's fine. But it's also good that others like sharing their musical tastes! (And listening can be active!) Where's the conflict? I learned piano, BTW, but I'd still be more interested in what music someone likes than what instrument they play.

Love a thread with its own soundtrack | Nov 16, 2022 |
Reading through this thread reminded me of some music I haven't listened to for a while, and I found some new stuff I might start listening to as well. Thanks! My go-to track right now if I need to concentrate and get something done is the 27-ish minute "Carnage Visors" by The Cure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN7acmhbuJQ For those who use Spotify and are interested (if you're not interested I don't need to hear about it!), I started a collaborative playlist called Music to translate to. The idea is to build a playlist with people's favorite music to translate to which can be shared, and maybe serve as a bit of inspiration for those who are looking for something new or cool to add to their own playlists. Feel free to add to it at https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1p90nbB8XxEs6mhTPC4ZZI Jared ▲ Collapse
