Hello,

I came across this term when a client asked me what "Documentation formatting tools I use" ...

I am really confused now, as I don't know exactly what he refers to.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you,

Lucy

May be he meant document proofing tools Jun 28, 2005

Hi! For usual formatting any conventional Word processor like MS-Word would do. Brandis

I also thought about Word, but was not sure...
I thought it might be something like Trados & co.

I am also asked about the platform: I understand this Windows. Correct?

Thanks again,

Lucy

DTP applications Jun 28, 2005

I think they meant DTP applications. But translators are usually not required to use them. CAT tools (like Trados) can be used to translate various DTP formats, but even so the client (agency) usually prepares the files for the translator. At least that's my experience. Of course, there could be a client with different requirements.

And yes, platform usually means Windows/Mac/Unix.
