How to view Japanese characters?

Dear friends,



I use IE 5 to view Jap>Eng KudoZ questions.

I have to go to View>Encoding>Japanes(shift-Jis) to see the Japanese characters. When

I try to view another question, the encoding

goes back to English setting, so that I

have to reset the encoding back to Shift-Jis.



Does anybody know a way to keep the settings

permanently to Shift-Jis for the full

ProZ.com session?

Change your preferences May 23, 2003

This is probably slightly different in Windows, but on a Mac you need to select Edit-Preferences, then click on the Language/Fonts tab. You should then see a pop-up menu labelled \"Default Character Set\". Change this to \"Japanese (auto-detect)\".

I found an answer to my own question. Oct 22, 2003

The culprit seems to be IE5.

I changed my browser to opera, and now
the settings stay changed to S-JIS.
