这样说显然是头脑不清楚,也显得缺乏常识。这就好像说“颜色不是白的,那自然就是黑色了”一样。

不会啊,这是一个实实在在的翻译难题。“咸”经常被用作甜的反义词,比如说面包,如果面包不甜的话,虽然它的味道比较淡,但还是会被定义为咸面包。

英文有三个词汇:sweet, savoury, salty,当然中文也可以分清楚这三种概念,但在日常语言中,咸就是有两种意思,可以代表savoury,也可以代表salty。

肯定有更好个说法来表示葡萄酒中的savoury,但我难以想出来。

Mr. Abbott says he and his Chinese translators got into a two-hour argument over the word "savory," a term often used to describe wines like those from the Rhone Valley or well-aged Bordeaux, since the former has hints of olive and herbs, while the latter is often written about with words like "leathery" and "meaty."

"They kept saying, 'If it's not sweet, it's automatically salty,'" he recalled. "But we said, 'No.' We dug out translations from other people and saw nobody really got over this barrier. What is not-sweet and not-salty? There isn't a term for that in Chinese."


中国译者说,不是甜,那就是咸(我觉得说得没错)。问题是,查字典,咸是”盐多”的味道,那么如果在葡萄酒的广告词中用“咸”字,很可能引起歧义。

我感觉"滋"字一般是指savoury的味道,不怎么用它描绘甜的东西吧?那,能不能用“滋香”或“香滋”或类似的词来代表这个savoury?

我喝葡萄酒比较少,翻译葡萄酒术语有点勉为其难。这里只是根据大家提供的文字资料做些尝试。


根据 savory 的定义,A general descriptive term that denotes that the wine is round, flavorful, and interesting to drink. 其中的 round 大致相当于中文的圆润、润滑,flavorful 就是有滋味,有独特风味的。

另外,根据 Phil 提供的资料,a term often used to describe wines like those from the Rhone Valley or well-aged Bordeaux, since the former has hints of olive and herbs, while the latter is often written about with words like "leathery" and "meaty."

这里 hints of olive and herbs,比较侧重香味,后面的 "leathery" 和 "meaty 侧重于口味丰富,醇厚,不单薄。


综合以上特点,似乎可以从“醇香/香润”中选择一种译法。

醇的含义是“酒味浓厚”,似乎可以与"leathery" and "meaty" 对应。
