Test Request: The sample supplied is a Fabric sample and has been tested to BS 7837:1996 by using BS
5438 1989: 2B Limited Flame Spread:Bottom Edge Ignition of vertically oriented
specimens. Prior to testing the sample was subjected to the water soak procedure as
described in clause 3 of BS 5651: 1989 then line dried and conditioned in the specified
standard atmosphere having a temperature of 20±2ºC and a relative humidity of 65±5% for
a minimum of 24 hr.
Result
Performance requirements (BS 7837 : 1996 Clause 8.3)
The sample shall be deemed to perform satisfactorily (Pass), if, for at least five of the six
test specimens:
The duration of flaming does not exceed 5 seconds after removal of the igniting flame;
and the lowest boundary of any flame does not reach the upper edge or either vertical
edge; and the filter paper does not smoulder or flame.
The sample shall be deemed not to conform to this British Standard (Fail);
If more than two test specimens show any of the effects listed in items ( a) to (c) as above.
If two test specimens show any of the effects as above listed items (a) to (c), then a
further six specimens shall be tested. In this case, the sample shall be deemed to ‘Pass’
if five of the second set of six specimens perform satisfactorily.
The sample supplied meets the performance requirements of BS 7837 : 1996.

יותר משתיים מהדוגמאות שנבדקו לא יעמדו באחד משלושת המאפיינים שצוינו לעיל.
אם בדיוק שתיים מהדוגמאות שנבדקו לא יעמדו באחד משלושת המאפיינים שצוינו לעיל, יילקחו שש דוגמאות נוספות מהחומר לבדיקה. החומר יחשב כעומד בתקן אם לפחות חמש משש הדוגמאות יעמדו בבדיקה השנייה באופן מספק.
