Hi everybody, always when I give a quote using the "submit quote"-button below a job posting, I think that it would be more useful, if a new window would be opened for the quote with the job postng itself staying visible. Some outsourcers include a small list in the posting telling what information they need and IMO it would be very practical if you could go through the posting WHILE giving the quote instead of using the back-button or open a second explorer. Dear Inga: I agree with you a 100%. I always have to copy-paste the job post somewhere else to check what information I might be missing: details about deadlines, pricing/payment or asking for a copy of the source document when available. Maybe a pop-up window wouldn't be necessary if the quoting form had a section (perhaps a list with bullets) reminding us what extra info the outsourcer is requesting besides from the usual stuff we fill in. I certainly agree | Jan 3, 2007 |
Hi Inga, After clicking the SUBMIT button, I usually open a second window with the job post in order to be sure I answer all the requirements listed. With your idea, that wouldn´t be necessary. I certainly agree. Best, Walter

... everybody here thinks the same! Thanks for all your agrees so far. But how can I suggest it to the proz staff? Or will they read this anyway? (Otherwise a forum called suggestions wouldn't make much sense, but i'm not sure...)

Alvaro. Dear Alvaro, this would also be a very good idea, but maybe then there would still be informations required by the outsourcer that are not listed. But still it would be a good solution!

Dear Inga: Hi again! I suggested that option remembering the few times I had to log in the ProZ website from a friend's computer or at a Internet cafe/rental place. Pop-up blockers are a headache and to make it worse sometimes it seems impossible to inactive them. So, modifying the job posting form and adding a section where the outsourcer must type in detail the extra info they need from the translator seemed like a good alternative in that scenario. Alvaro PS: Hey! have you noticed now you can see the last 10 replies to a post under the reply (Topic body) box? This is the first day I'm actually using the forums area so maybe it's just me, he he. Though I think Pieter Kuenerz was complaining about that when he replied. Anyway, that would make a very fast improvement.

[Edited at 2007-01-03 18:49] That's so funny, because in my last post in this thread, I first wrote that my suggestion would also apply for the forum when I suddenly noticed, that all the postings are visible below And I thought I just hadn't seen it before and not, that it really hadn't been there...

I also just noticed (like Alvaro) that there is another window with the answers given on that forum question. So you need not click back or open another proz-page. This makes things very comfortable. Thanks, Proz.com staff !
