Relocating or deleting workes! Apr 21, 2012

Thanks Joel for raising this issue!

Your solution worked fine and so did deleting the file as Artfully mentioned.

Frankly I am so glad to relieved to know it was just MultiTerm and not something more devastating e.g., problem with Word, Windows, viruses.

I'm not familiar with IT, so 100% this is related, but I experienced another problem when this error message began to appear.

Frankly I am so glad to relieved to know it was just MultiTerm and not something more devastating e.g., problem with Word, Windows, viruses.

I'm not familiar with IT, so 100% this is related, but I experienced another problem when this error message began to appear.

Basically, I also lost one day of my translation work as the Word didn't save the document properly (it was classic translation without using TRADOS). I tried my best to recover the file but it was to no avail. It was as though time has frozen and whatever I did with that file was not registered and there was no backup. Anyway, I have redone the work, met the deadline, now this error message disappeared.. So, it was a happy ending.

I guess I learned a basic lesson to double check if the document is REALLY saved, and that there are many ProZ friends out there.

For those who are experiencing the same problems, I highly recommend that you try solving this error before it plays mischief.

Thanks and all the best!

Thanks rich - for me works!! no Trados-Files in STARTUP, just delete (or rename) thees EXD-files. May 18, 2012

I encountered this problem this morning, which I believe was caused by last night's automatic update as pointed out here by Tom. I found a simple solution that worked for me, which is to delete exd files. Follow the steps found here http://www.lessanvaezi.com/delete-exd-files-to-fix-object-library-invalid-error/

As far as I gather, after deletion, the necessary exd files are recreated upon starting Word again.

Hope it works for you too!

Thank you rich!

The problem that multiterm cann't function was resolved by following your suggestion.

Delet EXD file in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Microsoft\Forms\

Great Joel! Aug 16, 2012

I had exactly the same problem. Just the same situation as yours "standby last night, rebooting this AM, the automatic Windows updater popped up saying it updated something, checking the log and there were a handful of "important" updates.

I just created a "second STARTUP folder" (I renamed simply "2 STARTUP" as you suggested and moved all the corrupted Trados templates into the new created folder.

Great and thanks a lot for your help!
Vittorio

Since I never use the toolbars in Word, and since all signs point to corrupted Trados templates (for whoever knows what reason??), I simply went into:

(UserName)>AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Word>STARTUP

and moved all Trados templates to a separate folder (to which I gave an unmentionable title!!)

Previous solution does not work Aug 16, 2012

The problem recurred this morning and the previous solution I posted does not now solve the problem so had to delete the multiterm templates. Any ideas?

Removing Forms folder or exd files does not solve the issue Aug 21, 2012

Same here. Only the removal of both the MultiTerm8 AND the MultiTerm9 templates "solved" the issue. If you need to work with those templates in Word there appears to be no solution yet.

SDL support is remarkably quiet on the issue. Well, it's summer, give them a break - providing support on all those SDL issues is taxing

SDL MultiTerm template issue with Micorosoft Word 2007 since 15.08.2012 Aug 22, 2012

Hi

This issue reoccured since last week (15.8. 2012) on the day Microsoft released new security updates.

When using our MultiTerm template and opening Micorosoft Word 2007 the following error appears:

The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.

Hi

The testing since last week to somehow resolve the issue with the known solutions lead to no help.

We escalated this to our development now.

Note:
This problem seems only to appear with Microsoft Word 2007.

Using Microsoft Word 2010 seems to work fine and gives no problems even after the security update.

So a short solution would be here to install/use Microsoft Word 2010 (full version or a trial version).

Kind regards

Word 2007, Windows 7, Trados 2007 and 2011 Aug 22, 2012

Please find below the solution I just received from SDL:

1. Please browse to this location

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

2. Please ensure that Word is closed and try deleting MultiTerm templates .
3. Delete the template and please restart Word.

Thanks, artfully - this worked for me.

And thanks to Connor Murphy for:

Windows 7: If like Jeff you can't see the APPDATA folder, follow Nelia's advice and select "Show hidden folder" under Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.

I would have never managed without this one.

Lets hope SDL comes up with something so that we can use MultiTerm in Word again.

My message on opening Word 2007 on Windows 7 with Trados 2007: The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings AND on exiting Word: "Automation error".

With the Multiterm9 template removed Word works again without any messages.

I found a solution Aug 23, 2012

I had the same problem when I installed the Windows updates. I tried to solve the problem by deleting the .exd files but it didn't work. After searching on the internet for a possible solution, I found one that worked. Now, I'm able to open Word 2007 with Trados and Multiterm templates.
All you have to do is to unregister and register the file MSCOMCTL.OCX. First, I have to say I'm not a computer expert, so I can't give you a technical explanation about this; below you can find two links

All you have to do is to unregister and register the file MSCOMCTL.OCX. First, I have to say I'm not a computer expert, so I can't give you a technical explanation about this; below you can find two links from where I got the information.

This is how I did it:

1. Click Start, type cmd, right click and run as administrator (It's very important to run CMD as administrator)
2. Type in: "CD C:\Windows\syswow64" . In my case, the file is in the folder "SysWow64", because I have a 64-bit operating system. I think for 32-bit systems the folder is \system32. If you are not sure, sarch the file in your hard disk to see where it is.
3. Type in: regsvr32 /u mscomctl.ocx, click "enter". (A window will show up saying that the file has been unregistered)
4. Type in: regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx, click "enter". (A window will show up saying that the file has been registered)
5. Type in "exit"

Just in case, delete the .exd files as described above. Restart your computer. Now you can use Word 2007 without any problems.
