Hello,

I have Trados 2007.

Now I’ve bought another computer, which has Windows 7, and I could install Trados very well.

The problem is, that when I search a Termbase, I can only browse for .mtw files.
Only “Multiterm 5” is indicated as only possible Multiterm Version.

What can I do to work again with my .mdb files?

Thank you very much for your help !
Sofie

Copy MultiTerm8.dotm to Word\STARTUP Jun 17, 2012

Hello Sofie:

This problem perhaps can be resolved by trying to copy MultiTerm8.dotm in ":\Program Files\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm8\Templates" into the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP" or "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates".

Regards,

Leo

Searching for this file, I saw that Multiterm wasn't even installed ...

The only problem now, is that "Termase Location" is empty (the "Open Termbases" window)
I cannot browse any file or folder.

A the end of the installation of Multiterm2007 , I got this message, saying that I have to go to Knowledge Base KB1687 to read how to restore my old termbases.
(I didn't write down the whole link ... just the number ...)
But I didn't find this topic.

I already tried to copy all my .mdb files into
Computer => C => ProgramData => SDL International => Multiterm => termbases

(My old .mdb files are called "mxw_3" , "mxw_15" etc. ; and in this folder I saw other .mdf files : "mxw_1" ; "MultiTermMtTemplate" and "MTMaster" ;
so I thought this was the right place)

But it still doesn't work ...

The Termbase window is still blank ...

Thank you so much for your help !

.mdb file is not for Multiterm Jun 17, 2012

Hello Sofie:

I think that .mdb files are termbase of SDLX, whereas .sdltb files are for multiterm.

Regards,

Leo

How can I open old Multiterm .mdb termbases (Trados 2007) on new computer (Windows 7) ? Jun 17, 2012

Hello,

Since I bought Trados, I only had (and created) those .mdb files.

I've always worked with those on Trados 2007 and Multiterm 2007.

I have never worked with SDLX ...

How can I resolve this problem ?

many thanks,
Sofie

Did you trasfer old databases? Jun 17, 2012

Did you transfer your old databases (mdb files) on your new computer?
If I remember, it should be two mxw_#.mdb and mxw_#.ldb files. You should they copy in a folder on your new PC and then open with Multiterm. (Maybe a klick on mdb file will open it.)

Incompatibility Jun 18, 2012

It could be that Multiterm 2007 isn't compatable with win-7 64-bit.

These might be helpful:
