5.5 TEST FILL
In order to evaluate the suitability of the selected borrow materials for construction of the starter
dam and to gather information on placement and compaction methods, a test fill program was
performed. The results of the test fill program are presented in detail in Appendix 5C. The test
fill program included the construction of ten test fills (Table 5-2) and an evaluation of the
settlement, density and permeability of the compacted fills for various amounts of compactive
effect. Both “Leach Cap” and “Dump 35” materials were evaluated in the test fill program.
