Pomeranje kontinenata je hipoteza o slobodnom kretanju kontinenata po površini Zemlje, pri čemu oni menjaju svoje međusobne pozicije. Hipotezu je postavio nemački meteorolog i geofizičar Alfred Vegener. U svojoj knjizi „Poreklo kontinenata i okeana“ Vegener je izračunao da su pre oko 200 miliona godina kontinenti bili prvobitno spojeni, formirajući na taj način superkontinent. Ovaj kontinent nazvao je Pangea, što znači „cela Zemlja“.
