चूंकि informed consent पर हस्ताक्षर करवाने से पहले रोगी/प्रतिभागी को या उसके माता-पिता/अभिभावक या कानूनी तौर पर स्वीकार्य प्रतिनिधि को की जाने वाली प्रक्रियाओं (शारीरिक जांचें, दवाएं देना, रक्त लेना, दवाओं के दुष्प्रभाव, वगैरह) की पूरी जानकारी दी जाती है और उनके सभी प्रश्नों के उत्तर दिए जाते हैं, यानी पूरी जानकारी देने के बाद हस्ताक्षर करवाए जाते हैं और फिर रोगी/प्रतिभागी को या उसके माता-पिता/अभिभावक या कानूनी तौर पर स्वीकार्य प्रतिनिधि पूरी बातें समझते हुए हस्ताक्षर करके सहमति देता है, अतः मेरे विचार से इसे जानकारीयुक्त सहमति कहना उपयुक्त होगा.
