Instead of locking down the other points manually, you adjust Highlights, Lights, Darks, and Shadows by using the appropriate slider.
This approach gives you most of the traditional Curves controls without having to deal with clipping against extreme values and foldback (places where the curve starts decreasing instead of increasing).
