Discussion

isahuang Jun 17, 2009:
I saw your other question, I believe doji is not the right answer here. I didn't have time to check the chinese term, but from the answer posted by Donglai to your other question, doji is translated as 十字,actually, it should be rather straightforward with the cross pattern. I guess spinning top or high wave candle works here depending on your context.
isahuang Jun 17, 2009:
One thing we can be sure here is it is talking about candlestick pattern. which one is it referring to? I would say you need to check your context. spinning top could be one possible answer, but remember one thing, spinning top doesn't have to have both upper and lower shadow, another possible answer could be high wave candlestick, its similar to spinning top, yet it must have both upper and lower shadow and both shadow have to be unusually long and longer than the real body. I think the text you are working on is probably translated from english. Again, it depends on the word choice of the translator. doji, spinning top and high wave candlestick sometimes are very similar to each other. One more thing, since it refers to 小阴线. you might want to point it out, its a black real body if you use spinning top or high wave candlestick. you won't have to mention this if you use doji pattern.

agree isahuang : How do they translate high wave candlestick? Just curious.

I think this is how it is described in Chinese: 主体较小而影线较长的蜡烛叫高波线,出现一组高波线是趋势反转的强烈信号。What do you think?

doji pattern

Euro/Usd forms a doji pattern.

more explanation: I think here K线 is indeed referring to the Japanese candlestick chart. Its a very powerful technical indicator if used properly. The Japanese Candlestick has many different patterns, each indicating different signals. The doji pattern is basically like a cross, meaning the market opens and closes at the same (or very lose) price. This means the market is in balance between supply and demand. You can see if this fits into your text to judge whether doji is the right translation here.

could be. daily candlestick chart

K线 also could refer to stochastic oscillator, although I feel here it fits more into the candlestick description. you really need to decide based on the context. Frankly I am not very familiar with the Chinese terms used in Forex trading. a single term doesn't say much to me. I will know what it is talking about if I have the whole context. But that is beyond what you can ask in Kudoz.
Note from asker:
Sorry, 日K线。
Is 日K线 Japanese candlestick chart?
