French term

linéaire

French to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research Online sales
Étude et optimisation du linéaire
État des lieux du catalogue présent sur Amazon et recommandations d’optimisations

They talk about product information sheets, the factors that turn browsing into buying, the texts - SEO and content of the product write-ups, visuals, ratings and reviews

To me it appears to mean simply "sales" - or "online shop". I know "linéaire" could mean retail or shelf space, but it seems to me to be a really general reference to sales.

Discussion

Hermien Desaivre (asker) May 31, 2023:
Thank you Thank you all for the quick help. It was an all-nighter with a text full of convoluted marketing speak. Now that I see the answers, it makes perfect sense.
Charlie Bavington May 30, 2023:
Seems to me it's a heading that sums up the sentence that follows it. So at first sight, it's basically a reference to their "catalogue on Amazon". Obviously there might be a little more too it (perhaps they use the same heading for other "catalogues" in other situations, for example), but that's the basic idea, I think.

shopfront

Yes, I think you've correctly identified it. This appears to be a conventional English term adopted over the past 10 years or so on ebay, Amazon, etc.
Peer comment(s):

agree Conor McAuley : Amazon uses the word "Storefront", eBay uses "Shopfront" and "Shop" in the UK, and "Store" elsewhere. You need a generic bricks and mortar term and this is a good fit for the UK, and South Africa, it seems.

disagree Thomas Miles : Less transparent than the suggestions of Sonia and SafeTex. I think we need a term implying decisions at product level.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "In the end, it turns out that what was meant here was the overall representation of their products online, so I decided to go with "shopfront". I liked "product offering" too, but it seems to me to be more about the display than the actual products in their catalogue."

product offering

Could it be simply the online version of what in a physical store would be a (display) shelf of products?

product lines

I'm obviously close to Sonia on this but it surely has to be "lines" as opposed to the wider idea of "offering" or "range". The French cries out for this translation
Peer comment(s):

neutral Sonia Geerlings : I would say a product line is more a 'gamme de produits'

Hello Sonia. Let me cite from Internet: "Although the two terms are closely related, product line is used more specifically for the different variations of one specific product whereas a product range is broader and can include complementary products"

shelf space

For me, it's about how to organize a shelf.
