Linagliptin treatment was not associated with an increase in cardiovascular risk, and the primary endpoint for linagliptin was significantly lower compared to the total comparators whether it was expressed as Cox regression **hazard ratio** (HR) 0.34 (95% CI 0.16; 0.70 and 98% CI 0.14; 0.80), Poisson regression **risk ratio** (RR) 0.34 (95% CI 0.15; 0.74 and 98% CI 0.13; 0.84), exact test for stratified 2x2 tables odds ratio (OR) 0.34 (95% CI 0.15; 0.75 and 98% CI 0.13; 0.85) or stratified Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel (CMH), with treatment arm continuity correction, RR 0.39 (95% CI 0.19; 0.80 and 98% CI 0.16; 0.91).
