Source text - English Steeping - it is the first step of malting after the properly preparation of barley for malting (pre-cleaning, cleaning, sorting).
Mainly it consists in wetting and aerating the barley to prepare it for the next stage: the germination.
Soaking it in a deep tank with cool water, barley takes up water and swells by one-third of its volume.
Parameters: twater = 12-18°C; time = 48-96 hours
Purpose: rising the humidity from 14% is what provides life latent of grain barley at 42-46%, barley necessary for the transition to active life.

În decursul înmuierii în linuri de înmuiere cu apă rece orzul absoarbe apa şi îşi măreşte volumul cu o treime.
Parametrii tehnologici: tempereratura apei= 12-18°C; şi durata înmuierii = 48-96.
Scopul operaƫiei constă în creșterea umidității de la 14% ce asigură viața latentă a bobului de orz la 42-46% necesară pentru trecerea la viața activă.
